Day 5 report: Last Chance Qualifier

Yesterday was the day of the Last Chance qualifier. 40 players battles for extra qualifying spots. In the end, Pascal AKA "Floppy" won the event with a pre/obf vote deck with Sabbat vampires.

Oscar also received cards from the new set, Keepers of Tradition, so a few of us played in a draft tournament with the new cards. The set looks awesome with incredible reprints and terrific vampires (including new Inner Circles).

The finalists were, in seating order :

Hugh Angseeing

Alexandre Bustros

Hugh, from UK, played a Bima dominate deck.
Alex, from Montréal, played a more classic Ventrue gr3-4 Vote and Bleed deck. John turned Imbued, and Johannes had an aggressive weenie Saturday Night Special Dragonbreath Rounds deck.

Here’s a resume from the last 2 turns of the final round of the Last Chance Qualifier.

Pascal had 3 vampires, but he was rushed and one of them went to torpor. With two left, he bled for 3 against his prey, reducing it to only 2 pool. Then, he called a Domain Challenge, since his prey, John Eno, playing with Imbued, had two of them tapped. In response to that, John played an Angel of Berlin to untap one Imbued and try to block. But he didn’t succeed. The referendum passed, doing only 1 pool damage, since the Imbued is now untapped.

That Domain Challenge reduced John’s prey at 2 pool. John rushed one of his minion and nobody understood why. In his Discard Phase, he put Dragonbound into play. Johannes had 3 vampires now into torpor …

Johannes’s turn. Everybody saw that he wanted to figure this situation out. In his Discard Phase, he played Uncoiling ! And a lucky ‘’8’’ on a die removed the Dragonbound from the game !!!

Hugh played after him. He had a total of 3 minions with his 2 Bimas with dominate. Govern with Bima 1 for 3. Bima 1 was destroyed because of the cost of Govern,. Same thing with Bima 2. One more bleed by vampire, and no more bleed cards. Pascal was at 1 pool.

Pascal ousted John easily. He had a deal with Johannes. But since Johannes was only at 1 pool, he broke that deal and went for the VP. Hugh shoke Pascal’s hand shortly after to sealed the faith of this game.

Final result :

Pascal : 1 GW 5 VPs
